I have traveled to Bhutan many times since the creation of the Bhutan Nuns Foundation. It is a pleasure to work with Dr. Tashi Zangmo, the general director of the foundation. I also feel very blessed every time that I see Her Majesty the Queen Mother and Patron of the Bhutan Nuns Foundation and we are able deepen our connection.
With the sale of our CD we were able to contribute to the construction of a water tank for the nuns’ new university. This CD, The Sacred Feminine Voices of Bhutan, is sold both in Bhutan and online.
We are also proud to announce that our music, blending sounds with the nuns’ beautiful voices, has been used by the Bhutan Broadcasting Service for a special story on the nuns. The story in its entirety can be found below.
This music has also been used on the soundtrack for the film 86 Centimeters, which won the prize for best environmental movie at the 2013 Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival. The film, which documents the melting of Bhutan’s glacier, can be previewed here.
In another piece of exciting news, our friend Klaus Ohlmann used music from this CD to accompany his video of the first glider flight over Everest. For more information, find the full story here or see the video here.
